1. Definition

Color coated steel plate is made generally by roll coating a layer on the substrate or bonding organic film and then baking into final plate. The color coated steel plate can be processed furthur in finished products. It is also called as "prepainted steel sheet".

History of prepainted steel sheet: The production of prepainted steel sheet originated in the United States in the middle of 1930s. At the begining, the technology was only adopted in producing prepainted steel strip. The first batch of coating equipment for broad strip steel was invented and procued in the Unitd States in 1955. In the 1960s, the production of prepainted steel sheet made a great development in the United States, Europe and Japan. Besides, the prepainted steel products were also developed greatly all over the world. The production of prepainted steel sheet in China had been almost blank before the end of the 1980s until WISCO and Bao Steel established production line. And PPGI was begining very popular after their promotion. PPGI line springed up like mushrooms in China since the begining of 21 century. Now China is the world center of PPGI.
